Many people subconsciously postpone their happiness by looking at a point in the future and then living towards that point. The problem with that is two fold. One you give way to not being as happy as you could / should be every day and secondly when that future times comes the excitement of whatever it is has usually changed and whilst still may be nice accompanies a feeling of emptiness within.
