We all have far more authority about who we are and what we can do for ourselves than we give ourselves credit for. Our authority for ourselves is paramount to us enjoying life, being happy and moving forward. Never ever give away your authority nor admonish responsibility for yourself. Never allow others to overthrow what you want to do, it may be difficult if those others are bombastic and loud but do whatever you have to / need to to get your own way. If respect is a word that is respected then others should respect that you don't want to follow their plans because for whatever reason it is not for you.
