Nothing in life is that simple and Coming Out can have additional complications such as being Asian, Black, Spanish or indeed anything else. Various cultures and ethnicities bring with it taboos and ideologies that can be very detrimental to anything but "established" life and thought - then it's not that clear either. There are differences in cultures and education does go a long way in eradicating such narrow thought patterns and insecurities. However, life is not an ideal and we can't choose where we are in life nor from our backgrounds either so we all have to make the best of it for ourselves and do the best we can, which sometimes means upsetting others by default because they can't or won't understand are plain and simply are too thick to think differently themselves. There is but one direction in life and that is forward, and we must all take that route regardless of those in-between who would wish us selfishly to change for them - well that's not going to happen.
